Περιγραφή Μαθήματος

This 4th-year course is the natural continuation of the mandatory course Electromagnetism I. The curriculum follows Griffiths’ Introduction to Electrodynamics. While E/M I focuses on the foundations of classical electromagnetic theory, E/M II develops these foundations further, with emphasis on the dynamical aspects of the theory.

 

The course requires a working knowledge of vector calculus, as in E/M I. Students should also be comfortable with basic differential equations and complex numbers, as well as with the main concepts and results of electrostatics, magnetostatics, and Maxwell’s equations from E/M I. 

 

Students are expected to work on homework problem sets themselves throughout the semester. Regular problem solving is an essential part of the course and is necessary for developing a practical understanding of the material.
